A Change in Perspective

Sometimes it takes a new set of eyes to remind us of the value of our field. Melissa St. Dennis of the Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) in her blog, A Change in Perspective, shares her thoughts about the importance of parks and recreation:

"At the end of October, I attended the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) Conference and Energize Workshop. Though I have no background or experience working in the sector, I was drawn by the opportunity to learn. I went to sessions on the power of recreation and parks in Aboriginal communities, the importance of thinking large and acting locally, and many more.
